Alpha Trader Forum to Give Buy-Side a Voice on MiFID II, Algorithmic Trading, Broker Crossing Networks and The Consolidated Tape

London 28th February 2012 - K&K Global Consulting Limited today announced details of London’s Spring 2012 Alpha Trader Forum, taking place on Friday March 30, in the City of London. The first in three London-based roundtable events this year, the Alpha Trader Forum will once again give the European buy-side the chance to voice its opinion around key issues that are affecting the industry. MiFID II, Algorithmic Trading, Broker Crossing Networks and the question of a Consolidated Tape, are four subjects that have been raised by buy-side members to feature in this session’s debate.

One representative from each of the strategic sell-side partners - Bloomberg Tradebook, Instinet, Liquidnet and JP Morgan - will joining the twenty-five senior and head traders from the same number of European buy-side institutions.

Anita Karppi, Managing Director, Alpha Trader Forum, says: “London has a core buy-side community that recognises the benefits of discussion, collaboration and the sharing of ideas or concerns around industry challenges, regulatory developments and best practice methodologies, in a secure environment. Previous sessions have shown that there is a clear need for this independent, closed-door event.”

Richard Balarkas, CEO, Instinet Europe, says: “Providing the buy-side community with a forum for sharing ideas and addressing joint concerns in confidence is something we keenly support. Building on the success of Alpha Trader Forum’s 2011 events, we look forward to continuing discussions with key members of the UK buy side community.”

John Barker, Head of International for Liquidnet and Managing Director of Liquidnet Europe, comments: “We look forward to proactive contribution and participation in the Alpha Trader Forum roundtable series across 2012. Liquidnet welcomes this initiative, which will provide an influential steer on what lies ahead for our industry and for the buy-side trader specifically.”
